DELISOIL project third Consortium Meeting - Denmark 26th-28th of May 2025
Delisoil third Consortium Meeting will be held in Denmark from 26th to 28th of May 2025
Following the successful first DELISOIL Consortium Meeting—organized by ENEA and hosted at the ENEA Casaccia Research Center in 2024— and the second online consortium meeting, the project will hold its third consortium meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, from Monday, May 26 to Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Hosted by the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), partners from across Europe will gather to review progress, share updates, and plan next steps toward the project’s goal of transforming food industry byproducts into safe, sustainable, and tailored soil improvers. By embracing a circular approach, DELISOIL aims to enhance soil health and productivity, contributing to the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe,” the Farm to Fork Strategy, and broader Circular and Bioeconomy Strategies and Plans.
The meeting will open at UCPH’s Frederiksberg campus with welcome remarks and presentations from project coordinator Ansa Palojärvi (Luke, Finland) and Work Package (WP) leaders. Annamaria Bevivino, Research Director at ENEA and leader of WP2 entitled “Soil Health Improvement,” will present key achievements and outline future tasks related to innovative strategies for restoring soil function and resilience. In the afternoon, following the General Assembly, there will be a session dedicated to the Early Career Researchers (ECR) network. Two ENEA PhD students, Lorenzo Nolfi (University of Tuscia) and Arianna Bindo (University of Turin), will share their research on “The Effect of Soil Improvers on Soil Health and Risk Assessment Analysis” and “DNA Extraction from Field Trials Treated with Biochar Derived from Tomato Peels, Vinasses, and Olive Pomace.”
On Tuesday, May 27, the consortium will visit the UCPH Research Farm at the Taastrup campus to observe DELISOIL field experiments and demonstrations, including long-term trials involving recycled products and advanced research infrastructure. In the afternoon, Danish Living Lab partners will deliver presentations, followed by interactive World Café discussions covering topics such as soil health indicators (co-led by Annamaria Bevivino), gender equality in research, living lab experiences, and business models. On Wednesday, May 28, participants will tour UCPH’s greenhouse and laboratory facilities. The morning will continue with sessions on soil health indicators (co-led by ENEA), knowledge and innovation transfer—including education and dissemination activities—and key contributions from early-career researchers. The meeting will conclude with a wrap-up session led by Project Coordinator Ansa Palojärvi.
Funded by Horizon Europe programme, DELISOIL supports the EU Soil Strategy and European Green Deal by delivering nature-based solutions to protect and revitalize Europe’s soils.
