Carlo Rosati earned his BSc (1992) in Horticulture from Bologna University, Italy, and his PhD (1997) in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Paris VI University, France. He has a 25+ years’ experience in fruit breeding, cellular and molecular biology, biotechnology applied to tree fruit and berry species, ornamentals and field crops. He has published more than 40 articles and reviews in international journals, and has participated to EU projects of FP4-FP6 and Horizon 2020 frameworks. Major publications deal with: the functional characterization of structural genes of the flavonoid and carotenoid pathways during flower and fruit development; the development of molecular and biochemical tools to study genes related to fruit quality traits; genetic engineering of flavonoid and carotenoid pathways in fruit, vegetable and ornamental crops; temperate fruit and berry crop horticulture and breeding.
