Riccardo Moretti is currently working at the Biotechnology and Agroindustry Division of ENEA Casaccia Research Center (Rome, Italy). Research activities aim at developing biotechnological methods to manage insect pests and vectors. He is highly experienced in the study and induction of mechanisms of reproductive incompatibility and/or virus resistance in various insect species through the manipulation of the infection of the symbiotic bacterium Wolbachia. He is expert in the use of micromanipulation and microinjection techniques to perform the transinfection of Wolbachia in insect embryos and adults. He is expert in the set up of rearing methods for various species of insect vectors, pests and parasitoids and in the application of control methods based on SIT Framework or on biological control.
